In ‘History’, Cor Kok tells us about his early years and his love of the grocery business:
“Cor Kok’s grocery career ended with Pé Jol in Spanbroek. He left the shop to join the wholesale grocery trade, starting work for A. Klaver en Zonen, a company that supplied wholesale foods and owned and ran a custard factory. In those days, it was still based in Opmeer, but it would later move to Alkmaar as part of the Kroon chain. Cor Kok worked there for 8 years. He learned a lot and looks back on his time with the Klaver brothers with a great deal of respect.”
On Tuesday 13 December 2012, the name Arie Klaver again features in the NoordHollands Dagblad newspaper, in an article about the history of the Opmeer/Spanbroek district.
We’d like to know more about this!
Has anyone got the other parts of this story?
We would really appreciate seeing them!
